Badge earners have earned a B or higher in Bradley University's COM 201, Journalistic Writing. Industry-based competencies include producing news content following AP style guidelines, editing/proofreading media content for accuracy and clarity, and packaging info for different media platforms and audiences. Earners have been assessed through lead writing exercises, article writing assignments, AP style quizzes, and practical writing practice and exams.

Badge earners have earned a B or higher in Bradley University's PLS 105, Introduction to American Government. Industry-based competencies include evaluation of political info and sources for credibility, bias, and relevance and translating complex political concepts into accessible explanations. Earners have been assessed through civic engagement assignments and Congressional Floor debate and vote simulations.

Industry-based competencies include tracking and analyzing legislative processes, interpreting parliamentary procedures and legislative language, and identifying key stakeholders in Congressional processes.
