Participants begin by observing the expert Project Lead’s work on an authentic client project, including scoping, testing, feedback, and troubleshooting, before participating more actively in issue identification and reporting activities through group and individual work sessions.

Earning Criteria

Complete job shadowing requirements for a minimum of two project-based pair testing sessions, including active discussion of testing procedure during the live session; completion of a written reflection on the testing procedure and the product/environment under review; successful documentation of the accessibility and usability issues identified during the testing session.

Participate in a minimum of two Small Group Testing Sessions, facilitated by an expert Project Lead, with participants alternating between leading testing using a screen reader and serving as a supporting pair tester.

Report testing results based on Small Group Testing Sessions, including a written reflection comparing results reported by the participant to those reported by the expert Project Lead, earning a minimum score of 80% on the AFB Talent Lab Project Testing Rubric.

Complete a minimum of two Independent Practice Testing Sessions, including both independent scoping and testing of client workflows to identify accessibility and usability issues and collaboration with a pair testing partner for issue verification and quality assurance.

Report testing results based on Individual Practice Testing Sessions, including a written reflection comparing results reported by the participant to those reported by the expert Project Lead, earning a minimum score of 80% on the AFB Talent Lab Project Testing Rubric.

Participate in a minimum of two client project simulations, completing tasks and responsibilities for a given segment of the Scope of Work on a simulated project, including organizing personnel, scheduling and completing pair testing of the relevant workflows, documenting identified issues, and conducting quality assurance checks, in collaboration with assigned pair testing partners.

For each simulated project, complete project documentation, including testing reports aligned to WCAG guidelines and success criteria, and a written reflection focusing on the project management and testing process and a comparison of the participant’s testing results against the final project report completed by the Project Lead, earning a minimum score of 80% on the AFB Talent Lab Project Testing Rubric.
