Innovating the Future of Education: A How-To Guide 2022
Issued by
EDUCAUSE
Successful innovation is founded on human-centered design methodologies and user-experience principles to identify the “right problem” and design a feasible solution for a target user group. Novice innovators define and reframe an important innovation using practical skills in user empathy and prototype testing. Insights collected through multiple rounds of user research ground innovators in the design of a larger field-test plan.

Participants crafted and reframed a problem or opportunity statement. They created a design persona and practiced human-centered design thinking with others to generate and narrow down many options for solutions to create a testable prototype. They practiced user experience research techniques to collaborate in small groups to revise the prototype and identified what to look for when moving the project through the phases of prototyping to potential field testing and preliminary piloting.
