The first thing you should do is teach your childs the importance of having a "home" room where everything, including papers, is stored. The chances are good that this will encourage them to keep their room organized much better than trying to drag items out or figure out a way to stack things in an efficient manner. Another key component here is making sure they are constantly being reminded to organize their room.
