Recipients have 1) initiated empathetic engagement with individuals and groups from outside their own culture; 2) undertaken sustained semi-structured interaction across one or more cultural differences; 3) shared insights and ideas about topics relating to human rights themes; 4) interacted across at least two modalities; 5) brainstormed areas of potential further collaboration; 6) provided reactions to the experience; and 7) offered personal reflections on the experience via short essay.

Earning Criteria

The Cross-Cultural Interaction for Human Rights badge is earned by successfully 1. Initiating empathetic engagement with individuals and groups from outside their own culture; 2. undertaking sustained, semi-structured interaction (approx. 8-10 hours) across one or more cultural differences; and 3. share insights and ideas about topics relating to human rights themes.

Interacting across at least two modalities (e.g., written communications, synchronous and or/asynchronous online discussions, in-person meetings), brainstorming areas of potential further collaboration, provide reactions to the experience via a survey, and offering personal reflections on the experience via a short essay. 10-12 hours online or hybrid learning.
