Recipients 1) identify a general topic of interest in human rights, 2) determine an actionable problem within the topic, 3) demonstrate knowledge of the standard structure and purpose of op-eds, 4) apply the op-ed format to an outline and initial draft about the problem, 5) write a completed brief but persuasive argument about how the reader can think, feel, and/or act differently with regard to the topic, and 6) identify at least two possible venues for possible publication of the op-ed.

Recipients • Identify a general topic of interest in human rights. • Determine an actionable problem within the topic. • Demonstrate knowledge of the standard structure and purpose of op-eds. • Apply the op-ed format to an outline and initial draft about the problem. • Write a complete brief (750-1250 words) but persuasive argument about how the reader can think, feel, and/or act differently about the topic. • Identify at least two possible venues for publication of the op-ed. • 10-12 hours.
