AI in Construction
The badge holder has completed coursework focused on practical applications of AI tools in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) sector. They can apply advanced prompt engineering, build no-code AI solutions, use visual AI for design and site analysis, assess ethical and technical limitations of AI, and design AI workflows tailored to a variety of professional construction contexts. They have evaluated real-world use cases and integrated AI tools into existing project processes.

Earning Criteria
-
Learners complete a structured assessment that evaluates their understanding of core AI concepts (LLMs, computer vision), ethical considerations, and practical limitations of AI in AEC. This includes a module quiz and applied prompt-engineering exercises where learners demonstrate their ability to generate accurate, task-specific outputs (e.g., drafting reports, summarizing technical documents, or estimating materials) using leading AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, and Claude.
-
Learners participate in guided instructional experiences including live Zoom sessions, readings, demonstrations, and discussions focused on real-world AI applications in architecture, engineering, and construction. Activities include hands-on practice with document analysis tools (NotebookLM), comparisons of AI platforms, and collaborative discussions on AI adoption challenges, ethics, and implementation strategies within conservative industry contexts.
-
Learners complete an applied project in which they design and prototype a no-code AI solution tailored to an AEC workflow. Project options include building a Custom GPT or AI agent for tasks such as RFI responses, submittal compliance, safety inspections, or report generation, as well as applying computer vision or generative image tools for design visualization or site analysis. Learners test, refine, and reflect on the effectiveness and limitations of their solution.
