Earners of this badge have demonstrated competence as a Healthcare Assistant Practitioner based on the occupational standard published by IFATE. This includes applied knowledge of factors that influence health and ill-health, (anatomy and physiology) working under supervision of Registered Practitioner. Skills and behaviours demonstrated include undertaking clinical or therapeutic interventions, management and allocation of case load, support development of others, team work and risk management.

Earning Criteria

Successfully met the requirements of the Healthcare Assistant Practitioner End-point Assessment delivered by Pearson as a registered EPAO. The End-point Assessment consists of a Multiple-choice and Short Answer Test, Observation of Practice and Interview (supported by reflective journal)

Completed between 18-24 months on programme learning and development to meet the knowledge, skills and behaviours in the Healthcare Assistant Practitioner occupational standard.

Achieved the 15 standards required by the Care Quality Commission (as set out in the Care Certificate), Level 2 Mathematics and English, a regulated Level 5 occupational competence qualification and a reflective journal.
Standards
Healthcare Assistant Practitioners work as part of the wider health and social care team and have direct contact with patients, service users or clients providing high quality and compassionate care. They work at a level above that of Healthcare Support Workers, and have a more in-depth understanding about factors that influence health.
