Using AI Tools in Project Management
Earners will apply generative AI tools to core project management tasks, including planning, scheduling, risk analysis, stakeholder communication, and reporting, while critically evaluating ethical, quality, and governance implications. Earners will complete a project using AI to process large datasets, identify patterns, run simulations of potential projects, and evaluate risk in unknown fields, while applying human context, ethical judgment, and management expertise to make final decisions.

Earning Criteria

Earner must be currently enrolled in MGMT 4443 Project Management.

Successful completion of AI-augmented project (grade of B or better) in MGMT 4443 Project Management.

Earned by submitting an AI-augmented project artifact meeting rubric standards and earning a grade of "B" or better on that project.

Upon successful completion, learners will be able to: 1) Apply generative Al tools to develop core project management deliverables, including project charters, work breakdown structures, schedules, and status reports 2) Evaluate Al-generated outputs for accuracy, relevance, and quality, validating results against project requirements and professional judgment 3) Construct effective prompts to create useful, context-appropriate results from generative AI across the project life cycle.

Upon successful completion, learners will be able to: 4) Analyze project risks and stakeholder communication needs using AI-assisted techniques to support data informed decision-making 5) Assess the ethical, governance, and data-privacy implications of using Al in project settings and apply responsible-use practices.

Foundational information will be actionable, blending mindset, technical, and practical guidance to reflect how project management is practiced today, including: 6 core principles that influence effective project management behavior, 7 performance domains that represent key areas of practice, and expanded coverage of AI, PMOs, and procurement.
