Earning Criteria

  • Demonstrate Japanese proficiency through class assignments, exams, and conversational participation.
  • Complete three sequential JAPN courses (JAPN 1103, 1213, 2113) to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency.
  • Complete JAPN 1103 Elementary Japanese I with a C or better, or an S (satisfactory; PLA).
  • Complete JAPN 1213 Elementary Japanese II with a C or better, or an S (satisfactory; PLA).
  • Complete JAPN 2113 Intermediate Japanese I with a C or better, or an S (satisfactory; PLA).
