Earners work in a small group to solve and then present three workplace solutions to industry judges. These challenges are focused around conflict management and resolution, effective communication, leadership, collaboration, giving feedback, emotion management, and managing up to superiors.

Earners develop, articulate and present a professional pitch. Earners craft talking points for individual strengths that showcase experiences and connect skills and strengths to what employers seek when hiring. Earners practice their pitch with peers and industry experts in small groups and large group settings.

Earners enhance their personal communication skills and build confidence through a 90-minute workshop on interpersonal networking. Earner's discover the professional neuanes of a networking environment. Earners are able to successfully enter and exit conversations in a professional and compelling manner. Earners understand the importance of and benefit to building social capital.

Earners engage with prestigious Merrimack College alumni, College Leadership Council members, Board of Trustees members, industry professionals, and employers in a social networking environment. Earners are able to make and articulate their strengths and make connections between their strengths and professional experiences.

Earners participate in a Skills Fair with over 20 companies, drawing on personal skills, strengths, experiences and professional pitch to communicate, connect and network with employers. Earners make connections with new companies beyond those that may typically fall within their major and industry.

The National Association of Colleges and Employers, through a task force of college career services and HR/staffing professionals, has developed a definition, based on extensive research among employers, and identified eight competencies associated with career readiness.
