Understanding user needs is the 1st course in a 6-month programme developed by digital experts at the Department of Digital Humanities at King’s College London, in collaboration with leaders from tech companies. Individuals who have earned this badge are able to demonstrate a range of skills, including user research techniques, tools and frameworks such as journey maps to understand and empathise with users, and strategies to communicate insights to stakeholders to inform design decisions.

Earning Criteria

Earners of this badge were required to create a recorded presentation to effectively communicate research findings, insights and opportunities from their own research based on a given product scenario, as well as submit a report that documented their process and findings including: a critique of an MVP, assumption analysis, user research plan, persona, journey map, 'how might we' questions, stakeholder map and high-level engagement plan.
