The Global Citizenship Award recognises the achievement of students who have demonstrated outstanding global citizenship through engagement in a range of activities that develop and demonstrate their interpersonal and intercultural capability across variable cultural contexts and global environments. This award recognises the importance of intercultural understanding and respect to the success of graduates, organisations and communities.

To receive the Global Citizenship award students need to engage in a range of international activities that develop and demonstrate the following capabilities:

Interpersonal and intercultural capability, including demonstration of independence and ability to manage adversity.

Disciplinary awareness across variable cultural contexts and challenging global environments.

Ability to operate within a professional and globalised work environment, including networking and organisation management skills.

The standards for this award were developed by a cross-disciplinary team at Deakin in consultation with representatives from Mitsui & Co. (Australia) Limited.
