AFS Intercultural Programs
AFS Intercultural Programs is a global not-for-profit network that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world. AFS offers mobility and non-mobility learning opportunities for professionals, educators and students from all over the world, such as the award-winning Global Competence Certificate (GCC), the Student Learning Journey, the PEAK training for facilitators and the Youth Assembly.
The Student Learning Journey
The SLJ is an educational curriculum based on a proven educational methodology that AFS has developed over 75 years of intercultural learning, and recently updated in collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania.
The programs equips students with the “AFS superpowers” needed to make the world a better place through active global citizenship: adaptability, critical thinking, self-awareness, empathy, communication, valuing differences, open-mindedness, global awareness and change-making.
