Earning Criteria

• Patient Engagement Techniques in Community Health: students learn and practice techniques in self-management support and motivational interviewing strategies to facilitate behavior change in patients with chronic conditions. Students develop an understanding of chronic disease management, wellness and disease prevention, and the basic health coaching skills. At course completion, students know how to educate, engage and support individual patients to improve the patient's health outcomes.
• Concepts of Wellness: this fundamental course covers a broad spectrum of health-related topics to make students aware of the causes of mental and physical illnesses and their prevention, and demonstrates how lifestyle, perceptions, and decisions affect health.
