Earners of the EMT Critical Thinking badge have demonstrated the ability to provide pre-hospital assessment and care for patients with medical emergencies and traumatic injuries. Due to the dynamic nature of emergencies, Critical Thinking plays an important role in gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing data to make time-sensitive decisions in regards to patient care. Earners of this badge exhibit four sub-competencies: gathering information, questioning assumptions, and drawing conclusions.
