Health and Safety in Construction Environment

Whether you want to top up your knowledge or work towards a career in the construction industry, this entry level course is for you .You will learn how important site safety is in a construction environment and be able to demonstrate prior knowledge when progressing into further learning. You will also gain an understanding of the principles of safe risk assessment and knowledge of how to keep yourself and others safe in a busy construction environment.

Identify the purpose of a risk assessment
Define the meaning of accidents, near misses, hazards, and risks.
Identify the importance of accident reporting in a construction environment
Demonstrate safe manual handling procedures
Highlight the importance of using site safety equipment
Identify the hazards of working at height
Demonstrate knowledge of how hazards can be controlled
Identify the regulations that control working at height
Identify substances that are hazardous to health
Identify how to store combustibles and chemicals
Demonstrate understanding of asbestos and the dangers of exposure
Identify hazards in relation to working with plant and equipment
Demonstrate knowledge of safe movement around vehicles
Understand the importance of method statements
Students have been assessed and have achieved in excess of 80% to gain the accreditation
