Earning Criteria

Complete USAF Academy's New Faculty Orientation to gain the understanding and skills to effectively teach at the Academy and operate in a shared governance model.

Instruct at least one undergraduate course at the USAF Academy for a minimum of two semesters.

Create a supportive and challenging learning environment for cadets which promotes professionalism, reflective practice, self-assessment and lifelong learning.

Use multiple indicators to monitor and evaluate student progress and to inform planning and instructional processes

Conduct extra instruction to meet student's need and ensure achievement of course milestones.

Complete the professional development observation process. This includes a pre-observation conference with a peer instructor to identify specific areas of focus for the observation and a post-observation conference to receive feedback.

Receive a formal recommendation from the 9H000 Functional Manager for the award of the 9H000: Academic Faculty Instructor badge.
