Brewing Arts Program
A certificate in Brewing Arts from the USF St. Petersburg campus' College of Arts and Sciences qualifies the recipient for entry-level cellar, packaging, and maintenance jobs in the brewing industry. The program is a general overview of the brewing industry, providing an understanding of day-to-day brewery operations and basic principles used on the job (e.g., cleaning, sanitation, brewing science).

Earning Criteria

Certificates are awarded to those that pass assessments (80% or higher) to demonstrate proficient knowledge in history and styles of beer, water chemistry as related to beer, hops, malt, wort biochemistry, fermentation science, brewhouse design, recipe writing, microbiology of beer, sanitation and safety, packaging, quality assurance/quality control, business of craft brewing.

Recipients must also demonstrate competencies (brewhouse operations, cellar, fermentation, sanitation and safety, QA/QC, and understanding of distribution) at a brewery through completion of an internship.
