Earning Criteria

• The badge earner participated in a 90-minute workshop on Universal Design for Learning.
• The badge earner learned how to move from focusing on the word “accessibility” to focusing their efforts on expanding "access," regardless of the ability profiles of their learners, and they learned how to shift their goals away from making content accessible and instead looking at making interactions easier to engage in.  
• The badge earner learned that they need to beyond the mental model of universal design (UD) in the physical environment, which is static, bounded, and predictable – instead designing interactions according to UDL, which see interactions as dynamic, open, and emergent.
• The badge earner learned manageable starting points for student-supported universal design.
