Geriatric problems are common but often under recognized in health care. Over 80% of older adults with memory impairment go unrecognized by their primary care providers. Nearly two thirds of older adults at risk for falls have no mitigating health care plan. To address this gap, Age Friendly Healthcare adopts evidence-based practice through the Geriatric 4Ms: What Matters, Mentation, Medication and Mobility.
-
A 2-half day symposium sponsored by Dakota Geriatrics will bring regional experts to discuss the Geriatric 4Ms in patient care specific for American Indian populations in the Great Plains. Day 1 (March 30th 2021) will address health care issues confronting older adults and community workers (3 social worker contact hours provided) and Day 2 (March 31st 2021) will focus on how providers and healthcare professionals can better assess and manage the older adult patient.
