The University District Civic Leadership Program is a collaboration between the University of Minnesota Office for Public Engagement, Office of Student Affairs and the Graduate School. Held fall 2022 through spring 2023, the mission is to build an effective partnership between the University District neighborhoods and the University of Minnesota through two main goals (see "Learn more" link for more information).

Earning Criteria

Work on projects in teams to provide 20 hours of service per semester with University District neighborhoods through engagement and discussions to understand the complex and intersecting cultures and identities within diverse neighborhoods. The 2023 project included working with the West Bank Business Association (WBBA) on developing awareness of the Cedar Riverside neighborhood adjacent to the UMN Minneapolis campus, as well as developing a community calendar and strategy for implementation;

Participate and interact with community leaders through monthly forums on civic engagement topics to reflect on what community experience teaches us about larger issues in society.
