Trauma-Informed Leadership: Law Enforcement

Law enforcement executives will be prepared to use trauma-informed strategies and techniques to improve agency responses to violence against women. They will return to their communities with actions plans that they created to 1.) develop, update, and implement policies related to violence against women; 2.) build community collaboration around issues of intimate partner violence, sexual assault and stalking; 3.) and ensure leadership and agency accountability.

Earning Criteria

Participate in a 3-day institute designed to meet educational objectives through content delivered across three modules that include a combination of lecture and interactive learning exercises, including group activities. Modules include: 1.) Policies and Practices; 2.) Effective Communication; and 3.) Trauma-Informed Institutions. Learning will be demonstrated through a series of issue briefs, to which participants will develop responses in smaller groups and receive feedback from faculty.

Create three action plans that detail strategies for adapting and applying core learning from each module to the participant’s workplace. This includes plans to 1.) develop, update, and implement policies related to violence against women; 2.) build community collaboration around issues of violence against women; 3.) and ensure leadership and agency accountability.
