The Office of Teaching and Learning’s Teaching for Inclusion & Equity (TIE) badge offers multifaceted professional development on inclusive and equitable teaching practices, including course design, relationship building and culturally responsive communication. As participants develop increased awareness of the impact of their teaching practices in the classroom through careful data collection, they will be able to discuss and address equity gaps in their discipline.

Earning Criteria

Attendance of two OTL workshops offered only to TIE Intermediate badge program participants focused on inclusive teaching principles, scholarship of teaching and learning, and project design

Completion of three community consultations with the following OTL Directors: the Director of Assessment, the Director of Inclusive Teaching Practices and the Director of Scholarship of Teaching & Learning and Faculty Learning Communities

Design and completion of a project that addresses a social justice issue in the classroom

Presentation of project results to a DU audience

Completion of project proposal and project artifact
Standards
PROVIDE TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT to ensure faculty can review curricula, pedagogical practices, and the methodologies used to assess learning with an anti-racism lens. Additionally, provide opportunities to make substantive changes to course curricula and teaching practices, including engagement in culturally responsive instruction.
