The Open CU Team and the Office of Academic Affairs at the CU System selected one CU OER Champion for each campus in 2022. The award celebrates four University of Colorado educators who contribute to the open education movement, increase campus and system awareness of OER, and/or galvanize interest in exploring, adopting, and creating OER to benefit the University of Colorado's students and beyond.

The recipient of this badge was nominated by colleagues and chosen as a top representative for the campus. They will have successfully integrated OER into one or more courses, their OER work will have had a positive impact on students, their OER contributions follow accessibility guidelines, they've demonstrated leadership in and broad advocacy for open education, creativity and innovation in the use of OER, sustained engagement with OER, and advocated broadly for open education and OER.
