Earners of this badge can apply the Student Transformative Learning Record (STLR) rubric to assess the levels of transformative growth that students exhibit in 5 of the tenets of transformative learning adopted by the University of Central Oklahoma: Global & Cultural Competencies; Health & Wellness; Leadership; Research, Creative & Scholarly Activities; and Service Learning & Civic Engagement. Assessment levels are: Not Achieved, Exposure, Integration, and Transformation.

Earning Criteria

Describe UCO’s framework of transformative learning.

Describe transformative learning.

Describe and give examples of UCO’s 5 STLR-tracked tenets of transformative learning.

Match learning activities with one or more of the UCO STLR-tracked tenets.

Name and describe the potential levels of transformative learning growth.

Create criteria for the STLR rubric for each tenet and level.

Write reflective prompts that promote student critical self-reflection and evidence of transformative learning growth.

STLR-tag the activities they are offering students.

Apply the STLR rubric to assess student transformative learning growth using learning artifacts in D2L.

Completion of STLR faculty/staff training, Modules 1 and 2.

Submit the UCO STLR-tagging form for a transformative activity – to include STLR rubric criteria for one or more STLR tenets, guidance for type of learning artifact, and reflective prompts for the students.

Evidence of appropriately awarding STLR credit, at any level, to at least one student based on a student reflective artifact.
