Earning Criteria

  • Students have to use different instrumentation, including, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, IR, GC/MS, along with their knowledge of chemistry to identify, analyze, and solve for the unknown.
  • Students were paired together for the instrumentation and analysis portion of the project. Together they prepared samples for testing, coordinated and managed time on various machines, and worked as a team to analyze data. Once each group had finalized their results they individually wrote their lab reports for final grading. All reports were original work.
