The learner will gain a better understanding of key safety concerns that need to be addressed with regards to Maine water being classified as cold-water year-round. Cold water survival is a specialized form of training that involves learning how to survive and respond effectively in cold water environments. Learners will demonstrate their knowledge and understanding in an observed, practical simulation in a swimming pool.

Earning Criteria

Learners will view presentations on the essential aspects of cold-water training and survival techniques and learn to identify the physiological and psychological effects of cold water exposure.

Learners will demonstrate their comprehension of course content by passing a test.

Learners will need to demonstrate the practical application of their knowledge by donning an immersion suit in a swimming pool. Learner must meet all the criteria of the application under 2 minutes.
