In addition to developing computer science skills such as programming through use of algorithms, data structures, resource management, security, software engineering, and web development, individuals in this program will learn how to identify, manage, and critically evaluate bioinformatics data and workflows for data quality, ethical considerations, and technical suitability when using artificial intelligence and machine learning applications.

Completed three required courses: Bioinformatics Tools, Databases and Methods; Data and Workflow Management for Bioinformatics; and Machine Learning and AI in Bioinformatics. Completed one of the following: Experimental Methods in Molecular Biology or Statistics, and at least one elective course. Earned 15 units. Met all requirements for a UCSC Silicon Valley Certificate in Bioinformatics.
