Digital Credential of Active Learning

The credential is awarded to faculty who have demonstrated a commitment to incorporating evidence-based active learning strategies into their course design. This includes completing the Active Learning Institute, which is an immersive professional development institute focused on enhancing courses with engaging, evidence-based active learning strategies. Faculty also submit an annotated syllabus and pass a classroom observation where we witness effective active learning taking place.

Earning Criteria

Completing of the Active Learning Institute (ALI). Participants demonstrate this by attending the ALI, completing reflection papers based on readings, and participating in discussions.

Revising and annotating a syllabus. Participants submit a revised and annotated syllabus, highlighting the changes that they have made as a result of participating in the ALI.

Passing a classroom observation. Participants schedule a classroom observation with one of our staff members demonstrating lecture time of no more than 50% of the class session.
