Finance Scholar of Distinction
Earners of this badge completed the Finance Scholars Program which is a selective cohort of undergraduate finance majors at the Haslam College of Business who successfully complete the honors versions of our four core finance courses. Students are admitted by invitation only and no more than 30 students are admitted to each cohort. Honors courses consist of accelerated curriculum, rigorous coursework, advanced case-based projects, financial modeling, and research reports.

Students must complete four honors courses to achieve this designation. These courses include Honors Financial Management, Honors Investment/Portfolio Management, Honors Financial Statement Analysis, and Honors Financial Management: Theory/Practice.

With small class sizes and experiential learning, Finance Scholars receive a unique educational experience.

Upper-level honors courses place a heavy emphasis on application of acquired knowledge through the use of advanced Excel projects and case-based learning. The series culminates in an honors capstone course, which requires building financial models and writing company research reports on financial statement analysis, forecasting and valuation, capital budgeting analysis, financing decisions and IPO valuation, and M&A analysis.
