Professional Data Scientists are required to have undergone training in data science methods and to maintain their professional knowledge and skills. They are also required to have made contributions to the Data Science profession. (Open CDS PD L2)

Earning Criteria

Professional Data Scientists must have completed formal training in the discipline of Data Science (such as statistics, operations research, machine learning, or econometrics), either through attendance at a taught course, or through self-study, and are required to regularly maintain their skills and knowledge in data science.

Professional Data Scientists are required to maintain their knowledge of the technology trends and techniques that are relevant to developing solutions for solving business problems.

Professional Data Scientists are required to maintain an understanding of their client’s business as it pertains to their client’s vertical industry (e.g., telecoms, financial, etc.).

Professional Data Scientists must have demonstrated experience creating reusable assets (process documentation, libraries, packages, etc.). Five examples are required.

Professional Data Scientists must make contributions to the Data Scientist profession, for example, publications, teaching, research collaboration, or participation in professional organizations. Mentoring others in their career progression as a Data Scientist is also required.

This milestone badge is open to all applicants. There is no requirement for any previous qualification.
