Individuals are able to identify common types of excavators and their components. They can describe hydraulic and telescoping-boom excavators and their instrumentation, controls, buckets and attachments. They are aware of safety, inspection and preventive maintenance guidelines. They can describe excavator work activities such as side sloping, finish grading, lifting, demolition and general excavation and trenching. They are able to safely start up, maneuver and shut down excavators.
