This credential represents the successful completion of a self-paced Writing Across the College Canvas course that explores how English Language Learning students experience higher education and provides best practices for writing instruction. Upon completion, participants will understand how diverse ELL students--and their language use—are, recognize the challenges of writing in a target language, and how to provide equitable writing instruction and assessment to all students.

Earning Criteria

To earn this credential, a participant must successfully complete the self-paced Canvas course, “Working Well with ELL Writers.” This course requires the completion of ten modules, each including video presentations and reflective responses. After finishing the modules, participants must engage in a half-hour informal one-on-one conversation with the Writing Across the College director or learning community discussion.
