The 4-Point Lighting badge recognizes the ability to safely and effectively use foundational on-set equipment through the completion of an in-person training and evaluation at the Media Creation Studio conducted by an MCS staff member. Earners of this badge can safely operate C-stands, light stands, while setting up continuous lighting systems within a studio or on-location setting.

Earning Criteria

Identify and position key, fill, back (hair), edge, and background lights to shape the subject and environment; Control light direction, intensity, and quality using modifiers such as softboxes, umbrellas, diffusion, and flags; Apply color theory using gels, RGB lighting effects, and tools like C-47s to enhance mood and tone; Ensure proper sandbagging, cable management (GAFFing), and power cord routing; Complete HANDS ON STUDIO SHOOT.
