The Rutgers Leadership Academy is a one-year program for mid-career faculty and academic staff who aspire to broadened leadership roles within their units, the university, and/or higher education, more generally. RLA fellows, representing units and departments from New Brunswick, Newark, Camden, and Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, are nominated by VPs, deans, directors, chairs, or other senior leaders who see potential for greater leadership in them

Earning Criteria

Attend the required didactic and experiential learning sessions which include pre-session readings and participation in session discussion and activities.

Complete the CliftonStrengths Assessment and reflect on the connections to one’s academic leadership practices

Participate in peer-mentoring group assignments to share and reflect on individual leadership experiences, and to listen, learn, encourage, and share advice with colleagues in the program.

Propose, design, and present a final project of importance to one's unit that can potentially be implemented upon completion of the program.
