The RBLP certification recognizes first-line and aspiring supervisors who can build and lead resilient teams. These leaders create the conditions that enable teams to perform at their best by creating a positive climate, developing cohesion, and providing purpose. Resilience is a characteristic of high-performing teams that can adapt to change, overcome adversity, continuously improve, and consistently deliver results.

Earning Criteria

Candidates for the Resilience-Building Leadership Professional certification must be currently serving as a first-line supervisor or preparing for their first supervisory assignment. RBLP candidates typically have 2+ years of relevant experience working as part of a team. College students preparing to enter the workforce are encouraged to pursue the RBLP certification.

Candidates for RBLP certification must complete: 6 hours of personal reflection on leader/follower experience, 3 hours of instructor-led, exam prep training (oral exam rehearsal), and pass the 1.5-hour oral exam.

The 1.5-hour RBLP certification exam assesses the knowledge and skills required to create a positive climate, develop cohesion, and provide purpose. The American Council on Education (ACE) recommends three (3) semester hours of credit at the lower-division baccalaureate level in Team Leadership for the RBLP certification exam.

Recertification is required every three years to maintain the RBLP level of certification. People who earn and maintain the RBLP certification may add the RBLP designation after their name and describe themselves as RBLP certified.

Task 1: Analyze team cohesion. Task 2: Organize people to work in teams. Task 3: Promote trust between team members. Task 4: Ensure mutual respect between team members. Task 5: Keep the team informed. Task 6: Keep people focused on the mission during adversity. Task 7: Talk about setbacks.
Task 1: Analyze individual purpose. Task 2: Demonstrate character. Task 3: Show genuine concern for people. Task 4: Encourage individual learning. Task 5: Delegate responsibility. Task 6: Empower decision-making. Task 7: Train the team.
