The course objective is to present distinctions between crimes of violence and property-based crimes, specifies what constitutes white collar crime, explores how this criminal activity often causes more damage to society than do crimes of violence, looks at the laws involved in prosecuting such crimes, considers how to detect and gather evidence of such crimes, and looks at corporate and political crime.

The methods of assessment include quizzes, written papers, examinations, and a comprehensive final proctored exam with a minimum passing score of 70 percent.

This is an independent study, distance-delivered course. The methods of instruction include discussion, a study guide, and textbook. The general course topics include white collar crime; white collar crime in various systems; white collar crime in the economy; and preventing and policing white collar crime.
