The course objective is to discuss the most pressing topic for law enforcement: terrorism; review some of the theories advanced to account for acts of terror; consider history and how some groups have used acts of terror to accomplish their goals; look at foreign and domestic acts of terror and the political agendas of those engaged in such acts; and look to pressing issues, such as the forms that acts of terror can take.

Earning Criteria

The methods of assessment include quizzes, examinations, written papers, and a comprehensive final exam with a minimum passing score of 70 percent.

The methods of instruction include a textbook and digital study guide. The general course topics include introduction to terrorism; national and ethnic terrorism; ideological and religious terrorism; and domestic terrorism and homeland security.
