This course objective is to provide students with a foundation in the basic concepts of public speaking. Students will learn how to research, organize and write effective speeches, incorporate presentation aids, and rehearse and deliver speeches effectively. Students will prepare, rehearse, record and submit speeches in a number of rhetorical styles to be graded.

The methods of assessment include presentations and performance rubrics (checklists) with a minimum passing score of 70 percent.

The methods of instruction include practical exercises, study guides, and textbooks. The general course topics include introduction to public speaking; narrative/personal experience speech; rehearsal and delivery; podcast speech; infomercial speech; and persuasive speech.
