Play in the Lives of Young Children (ECE 107)

This course objective is to focus on a study of play that provides current perspectives on culture and gender differences in play through a blend of research, theory, and practical applications. Topics include brain research and information on how and why play is important for children. The course attempts to illustrate the need to understand play and children with disabilities, integrate play into classroom curricula, and be aware of special places for play.

Earning Criteria

The methods of assessment include quizzes, examinations, written papers, and a comprehensive proctored final exam with a minimum passing score of 70 percent.

The methods of instruction include practical exercises, discussions, study guide and textbook, and an optional webinar. The general course topics include the Context of Play in Early Education; educational Perspectives, Part 1; and Educational Perspectives, Part 2.
