Developing Math and Science Skills in Young Children (ECE 217)

This course emphasizes the integration of mathematics and science with the other content areas for young children from preschool though the primary grades. It follows the guidelines of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Developmentally appropriate assessment is explained.

The methods of assessment include quizzes, examinations, written papers, and discussion boards with a minimum passing score of 70 percent.

The methods of instruction include computer-based training, study units, textbook, and an optional open office hour session. The general course topics include developing knowledge through STEM education; building STEM learning centers; incorporating STEM education throughout the classroom; and STEM education for project-centered education.
