The course objective is to review the issues involving information, security, and the privacy of information; examine a broadening range of additional criminal threats, based upon actual cases; consider cybercrime, systems abuse, and the hacker culture; and look to issues of prevention and information security, with an emphasis on the need to take immediate steps against this likely criminal activity.

The methods of instruction include discussion, textbook, and a digital study guide. The general course topics include computer crime: traditional and contemporary; identity fraud, terrorism, and prosecuting computer crime; and legal issues and computer forensic science.
