Art, Music and Movement (ECE 213)

The course objective is to learn about the role of art, music, and movement in a young child's education. It explains how art and movement education address the physical, social/emotional, and cognitive development of young children. Students will recognize ways to develop creativity and promote self-expression among young children by enhancing the entire curriculum with experiences in visual, auditory, and kinesthetic creativity.

The methods of assessment include quizzes, examinations, written papers, and a comprehensive proctored examination with a minimum passing score of 70 percent.

The methods of instruction include practical exercises, discussion, study guide and textbook ,and an optional webinar. The general course topics include Fostering Creativity and Aesthetics in Young Children; Planning and Implementing Creative Activities; Art and the Development of the Young Child; The Early Childhood Art Program; and Creative Activities in other Curriculum Areas.
