The Personalized Competency-Based Education (PCBE) Strategies MicroCredential creates opportunities for practicing teachers to implement PCBE instruction and support students by focusing on Personalized Learning Strategies (PLS) to guide all students to succeed. PCBE involves the concepts of outcome-based education and mastery learning to develop instructional approaches that allow students to achieve based on their abilities and backgrounds.

1. Engaging Self: Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to implement Personalized Competency-Based Education (PCBE) strategies in the classroom. Explores the framework and strategies involved in PCBE practices. 1.1 Develops an understanding of PCBE. 1.2 Evaluates student attributes that are an essential part of PCBE practices (Metacognition, Self-Regulated Learning, and Academic Perseverance) to decide what skill is most needed to support independent student work.

2. Engaging Others: Demonstrates ability to implement, analyze, and synthesize evidenced-based outcomes of competency-based strategies in assigned classroom. 2.1 Designs a Personalized Competency-Based Education (PCBE) unit with experienced teacher(s) in the school. 2.2 Implements the PCBE unit and assess student impact to determine the success of students using the PLS strategies. 2.3 Evaluates and reflects on the effectiveness of the PCBE unit and strategies for improvement.

Engaging in Diverse Communities: Shares the outcomes of the PCBE unit in a presentation to a diverse educational community and seek feedback. 3.1 Uses one of the following methods to develop, present, and discuss the strategies used and the impact of the strategies on student learning: 1) school district-led workshop, 2) blog or video, or 3) local, regional or national conference.
