Teaching Fundamentals
Earners will gain competencies in classroom management, lesson structure, student engagement, behavior response, and instructional decision-making. Application of foundational teaching strategies through scenario-based assessments, structured lesson planning, and classroom simulations; management of common classroom challenges; application of research-based instructional practices; effective response to learner needs; and demonstration of professional decision-making will also be earned.

Earning Criteria

Earners must attend the full workshop session, actively engage in all instructional activities, complete all required practice tasks focused on foundational teaching skills, submit a completed instructional artifact or response demonstrating application of concepts, and demonstrate minimum proficiency on a scenario-based assessment that evaluates their ability to apply effective classroom management, instructional decision-making, and student engagement strategies in real classroom situations.

Earners will explain the core responsibilities and professional expectations of classroom teachers, including ethical responsibilities and day-to-day classroom duties.

Earners will describe Oklahoma teacher certification requirements and entry pathways, including expectations for alternative and traditional certification routes.

Earners will demonstrate foundational classroom management and instructional strategies appropriate for novice teachers in K- 12 settings.

Earners will apply teaching fundamentals to real classroom scenarios, scoring 70% or higher on a scenario-based assessment covering teaching responsibilities, certification processes, and classroom expectations.

Earners will explain how AI tools can support foundational teaching tasks such as lesson organization, classroom engagement, and reducing administrative workload.
