SCU Literacy Micro-Credential: Competency in the Science of Reading
The SCU Literacy Micro-Credential is an embedded credential designed to provide pre-service teachers and those seeking alternative certification with verified competencies in the effective teaching of reading in the early elementary grades. This micro-credential is integrated into two required courses within the Early Childhood and Elementary Education programs. To earn the micro-credential, students must successfully complete both courses with an overall grade of B or higher.

Earning Criteria

Successfully complete ELED 4843: Assessment and Intervention Practices for the Teaching of Reading in Grades K–4 with a grade of B or higher.

Successfully complete ELED 4803: Methods of Teaching Reading in the Primary Grades (Pre-K–3rd Grade) with a grade of B or higher.
