Interpreting English/Spanish
With this badge, students can perform accurate, context-appropriate interpreting between Spanish and English (and vice versa) in a variety of settings. They demonstrate introductory skills in escort, consecutive, and simultaneous interpreting, applying cultural awareness and strong communicative strategies. Students earning this badge are prepared for entry-level roles in bilingual communication support and are positioned for advanced study or professional certification in interpreting.

Students apply interpreting skills in authentic, context-based scenarios and practice escort, consecutive, and simultaneous interpreting in a variety of settings. They also create guides and strategies for commonly encountered interpreting situations.

Students engage in bilingual communication by completing interpreting tasks relevant to academic, workplace, and community settings.

Complete SPAN 2513 - Intermediate Spanish Grammar and Conversation with a C or better, or an S (satisfactory; PLA).

Complete SPAN 2443 - Interpreting Spanish to English with a C or better, or an S (satisfactory; PLA).

Complete SPAN 2453 - Interpreting English to Spanish with a C or better, or an S (satisfactory; PLA).
