Foundations of Generative AI for Educators prepares educators to responsibly integrate generative artificial intelligence into teaching and learning. Participants build AI literacy, explore how generative AI functions, create effective prompts, evaluate AI-generated content, and address ethical, privacy, security, and equity considerations. Learners apply institutional policies and best practices that support responsible AI use. Prerequisite for advanced AI credentials.

Earning Criteria

Complete all required instructional modules. Successfully complete all required module assessments including diagnostic assessments, knowledge checks, scenario-based activities, and quizzes. Demonstrate competency in foundational AI concepts, AI literacy, prompt engineering, ethical AI use, data privacy, and responsible AI implementation in educational settings. Complete all required hands-on learning activities.
Upon successful completion, participants will be able to: 1) Explain fundamental concepts, terminology, and technologies related to generative AI. 2) Describe how large language models function and recognize their capabilities and limitations. 3) Apply AI literacy principles to educational environments. 4) Develop effective prompts using structured prompting techniques. 5) Evaluate AI-generated content for accuracy, bias, reliability, and instructional value.
Upon successful completion, participants will be able to: 6) Apply ethical, privacy, security, accessibility, and academic integrity principles when using AI. 7) Interpret institutional AI policies and contribute to responsible AI implementation. 8) Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, families, and communities regarding AI technologies. 9) Demonstrate readiness for advanced AI micro-credentials specific to educational sectors.
