Content Knowledge for Early Childhood Teachers

Upon completion of the workshop, the attendee will have information on resources which can be directly applied in the classroom to support effective early childhood instruction. In addition, foundational child development content will be shared with the attendees, which can be applied toward the Early Childhood Education OSAT subtest exam. It is a requirement for teachers to pass this exam to be certified to work in the classroom in Oklahoma.

Earning Criteria

The attendees will be asked to complete questions that emulate the Early Childhood Education OSAT exam, earning a 75% or higher completion score. Specifically, there will be 25 multiple-choice questions and one constructed response. The questions will be generated from the test framework located on the Certification Exam for Oklahoma Educators site (www.ceoe.com). There are 17 competencies covered in the exam. One to two questions will be asked relating to each of the competencies.

Earners will be able to identify strategies for addressing the needs of children in pre-kindergarten-3rd grade.
Earners will be able to apply appropriate early childhood terminology and recognize formal and informal methods for assessing young students.
